Right C3 is proud to announce the Grand Prize winner of the Senior Survey Scholarship Contest! Jared Ramon of Laredo, Texas was named the $2,500 Grand Prize Winner.
Jared told Right C3 that he is attending Blinn College and plans to transfer to Texas A&M University to major in Civil Engineering. He dreams of building and owning his own restaurant. His friends tell him he’s a good cook, and he’s known for his chicken wings. He’s looking forward to making new friends in college and experiencing adulthood.
In high school, Jared met a lot of great friends. He was a percussionist in marching and concert band. He’s a pretty amicable guy, but he knew he wanted more. He credits his girlfriend with talking to him about college and encouraging him to apply. “I wanted to get out of Laredo.”
Jared’s parents are proud of their son getting out of his comfort zone and leaving for college. He takes inspiration from his mom, who is a special education teacher. Jared cares very much for his family, and encouraged his younger siblings to use the Right C3 services. “I didn’t know about this program until I was a senior. I could have got so much more help. I’m going to make sure my younger brothers and sisters take advantage.”
Jared acknowledges he didn’t think about college much prior to senior year. “I wish I had got more involved in the college process. You guys helped me by answering my questions and college and financial aid.” His advice to future students reflects his concerns: “Do your research and apply early! Do not procrastinate!”
