The SAT and ACT can be challenging for high school students. There are many voices you can listen to on this subject, which can cause confusion. We at Right C3 want our clients to be prepared and have a solid plan as they approach testing. Through our coaching and study material, Right C3 can help you on your way to college. We recommend that you follow these four steps as you think about your T-E-S-T.
T – Take Both! The first step is to take both the SAT and ACT. While many states have a preferred exam, colleges will accept either test for admission to their college. Each student may prefer the style of one test over the other, but you will not know your own preference unless you take the time to do both! It sounds like a simple thing, but many students just take one exam one time and then give up. Taking only one test is a strategy that can leave you lacking in your test score when you begin applying to colleges.
E – Evaluate! After taking both exams you should look into how you did. Each exam has their own score report which you can review to find out your strengths and the areas that need improvement. You can also see which score looks better to colleges. You can do this through a comparison chart[1]of the SAT/ACT scores or by contacting the Right C3 coaches.
S – Study Strategically! Once you evaluate you may find that you did better on one of the tests. That makes it pretty simple! You can focus in on that test and forget about the other. You may also find that you did about the same on the ACT and SAT exams. That is when you can decide which one you preferred. You can then select the one you want to focus on as you study for the next test. Be sure to find study material that works on the right test for you, in a method that works for you, and helps you to work toward improvement. At Right C3 our material helps to point out where you need additional work and provides you with tools to focus on those areas.
T – Test Again! Don’t be one of those students who just gives the minimal effort; take your best test again! You will be thankful down the road about this choice. An improved test score can open up more opportunities for college admissions and for scholarships. Once you re-test you will be able to assess if you have time or need to take an additional test. You are not limited on how many times you can take these exams. Don’t limit yourself, but make the most of your opportunities.
While this is a simple method, it can make a lot of difference for your admission to college and financial aid. Your Right C3 coaches are available to help make a personalized approach for you. We are proud to assist our clients through the challenge of testing and beyond!
